ecogenesis TPU Materials
Ecogenesis biopolymers is the worldwide distributor of Soleic® Thermopolastic Polyurethane (TPU) materials by Algenesis, in the 3D print market and special projects.
Soleic® TPUs are plant based, low carbon, biodegradable and non-ecotoxic.
Derived from plants and certified by USDA BioPreferred, Soleic® TPUs combine cutting-edge performance with exceptional environmental responsibility. Our TPU filaments come with a carbon footprint reduction, ranging from 77.8 - 83.8%, and they are chemically designed to completely biodegrade in the most sensitive ecosystems, including our waterways and oceans.1 At the end of their life these materials leave no harmful microplastics behind.2 Following modified ASTM D5338 methodology, shredded TPUs have been mixed with compost and incubated at 45°C. After 180 days, the materials have achieved 27% absolute biodegradation as measured by CO2 respirometry.

About Algenesis
Soleic® Urethane technology was developed by Algenesis, a materials science company founded in 2016 with a vision to help the planet recover from the pollution caused by petroleum-based products.
With decades of scientific expertise, co-founders Dr. Stephen Mayfield, Dr. Robert Pomeroy, and Dr. Michael Burkart set out to tackle this problem in the lab. Their dedicated research resulted in fully biodegradable urethane polymer technology that has the potential to transform entire industries.
The idea from the lab grew into an innovative business, and with the backing of investors, we have built out the team and developed our own proof-of-concept Blueview Shoe in 2022.
Algenesis offers two chemical systems, Thermoplastic Urethanes (TPUs) and pourable Polyurethane (PU) foam, for a range of versatile applications including low to mid-density foams, coatings and elastomers for molding and extrusion. Their formulation engineers will work with your team to fit your needs, whether you need to transition from your existing materials or are starting from scratch with a new product design.
